Cheesecake Deviled Strawberries
Prep 20 minutes
Serves Yield: 18-24 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of Golden Oreos, crushed – These cookies add a light, sweet crunch.
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter – Helps bind the crumble and adds richness.
  • 1 packet strawberry gelatin mix (3 oz) – Infuses the crumble with a fruity, strawberry flavor.
  • 1/2 cup freeze-dried strawberries, crushed – Enhances the strawberry taste and adds a pop of color.
  • 18–24 large strawberries
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 2/3 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs

Directions

  1. Prepare the Crumble: In a mixing bowl, combine crushed Golden Oreos, melted butter, strawberry gelatin mix, and freeze-dried strawberries. Mix until all ingredients are well-coated and have a crumbly texture.
  2. Bake: Spread the crumble mixture on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 7-10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Allow it to cool completely for the best crunch.

Using the Crumble

  1. Once prepared, sprinkle the strawberry shortcake crumble over cheesecake deviled strawberries for a layered, fruity flavor. This crumble also works well as a topping for vanilla ice cream, cupcakes, or traditional strawberry shortcake. For more ideas on dessert toppings, check out creative graham cracker uses.
  2. Choosing Strawberries: Select large, firm, and ripe strawberries for the best flavor and stability. Look for berries that are bright red and have no soft spots.
  3. Perfect Filling Consistency: To achieve a smooth, fluffy filling, ensure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing. Whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks separately, then fold it gently into the cream cheese mixture to avoid deflating it.
  4. Presentation and Serving: Use a piping bag with a star tip to create beautiful swirls when filling each strawberry. This not only adds a professional touch but also helps the filling stay in place. For extra elegance, add a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs on top or even a strawberry shortcake crumble. These presentation tips ensure your strawberries are a hit at any gathering!
  5. Chocolate-Dipped Cheesecake Deviled Strawberries: For added richness, dip the base of each strawberry half in melted dark or milk chocolate and let it harden before piping in the cheesecake filling. This variation not only adds a layer of decadent flavor but also makes for a visually appealing presentation. Dipped strawberries hold well, making them a great choice for parties and special events.
  6. Adding Fresh Herbs: Fresh herbs like mint or basil can give a surprising twist. Finely chop a few leaves and add them to the cheesecake filling or use as a garnish on top of each strawberry. The herbs enhance the strawberry’s natural flavors, making this variation perfect for summer gatherings or outdoor parties.
  7. Experimenting with Spices and Flavor Extracts: Try adding a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, or even a splash of almond extract to the filling for a more complex flavor profile. Mint extract is another option that pairs beautifully with strawberries and can provide a refreshing touch. For those who enjoy a more tropical flavor, a drop of coconut extract can turn these into a unique treat with a summery feel.
  8. Prep the strawberries by cutting off the stems and slicing them in half. Next, cut a small sliver off of the back of each strawberry half so that they sit up straight.
  9. Use a small melon baller to carefully hollow out the middle (you don’t need to take out much, just make a small enough indent so that the cream cheese filling doesn’t slide off).
  10. In a medium sized mixing bowl, beat the whipping cream until stiff peaks form (about 5 minutes).
  11. In a separate bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice with an electric mixer until smooth.
  12. Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well incorporated.
  13. Fill a piping bag with the cream cheese mixture (I used a star tip), and pipe it onto each sliced strawberry.
  14. Finish with a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs.
