The classic blood sugar-friendly snack. Apple fiber + almond butter fat slows glucose absorption significantly.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium apple (Fuji, Gala, or Granny Smith — Granny Smith has the lowest sugar)
  • 2 tbsp natural almond butter (no added sugar, no palm oil)
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Directions

Core and slice the apple into 8 wedges.

  1. Spoon almond butter into a small bowl for dipping.

Dust apple slices with cinnamon if using.

  1. Eat immediately or pack separately for work (keep apple in water to prevent browning — add 1 tsp lemon juice).

Notes

Always pair fruit with fat or protein to blunt the blood sugar spike. Apple alone: causes a moderate spike. Apple + almond butter: much lower, more sustained energy. Granny Smith apples have the most fiber and lowest sugar of all apple varieties.
