Emeril's Baked Cheese Grits

Yellow grits baked with garlic, cheddar, and egg into a savory custard - from Emeril’s Real and Rustic.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups yellow grits (not quick or instant)
  • 1 stick (1/4 pound) butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped garlic
  • 8 oz cheddar cheese, grated (about 2 cups)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

Heat the oven to 350 F.

  1. Prepare the grits per package directions, then stir in the butter, salt, pepper, garlic, and cheese until melted.
  2. Whisk the eggs and milk together and stir into the grits.
  3. Transfer to an 8x2-inch baking dish and bake about 1 hour until set. Serve warm.
