Yellow grits baked with garlic, cheddar, and egg into a savory custard - from Emeril’s Real and Rustic.
Ingredients
- 2 cups yellow grits (not quick or instant)
- 1 stick (1/4 pound) butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped garlic
- 8 oz cheddar cheese, grated (about 2 cups)
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
Directions
Heat the oven to 350 F.
- Prepare the grits per package directions, then stir in the butter, salt, pepper, garlic, and cheese until melted.
- Whisk the eggs and milk together and stir into the grits.
- Transfer to an 8x2-inch baking dish and bake about 1 hour until set. Serve warm.
