Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Burger

Juicy seasoned beef patties topped with melted cheese and served in toasted brioche buns.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb (700 g) ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 4 brioche buns, halved
  • Butter, for toasting
  • Lettuce, tomato slices and red onion, to serve
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Gently mix the beef with the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper, then form into four loose patties slightly wider than the buns. Press a dimple in the center of each.
  2. Heat the oil in a heavy pan or griddle until very hot. Cook the patties for 3 minutes without pressing, then flip.
  3. Lay a slice of cheese on each patty and cook a further 2-3 minutes until melted and the burger is cooked to your liking.
  4. Butter and toast the cut sides of the brioche buns until golden.
  5. Build each burger with lettuce, tomato, onion and the cheesy patty, and serve immediately.
