The Perfect Bloody Mary

A bright, well-seasoned Bloody Mary mix balancing horseradish, citrus, cumin and caraway, batched ahead for the best flavor.

Ingredients

  • 32 oz tomato juice (or Clamato)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Juice of 1/2 lime

  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Tabasco
  • 1 tbsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground caraway seed
  • 1/2 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tbsp ground celery seed
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Ice

  • 8 oz vodka (optional)
  • Celery sticks and lime wedges, for garnish

Directions

  1. In a large pitcher, whisk together everything except the ice and vodka until well combined.

Refrigerate several hours so the flavors develop.

  1. Fill glasses halfway with ice and add 2 oz vodka per glass if using.

Top each with 6 to 8 oz of the Bloody Mary mix.

  1. Garnish with a celery stick and lime wedge; serve with olives, pickles, cheese and salami for snacking.
